Ten elements that (most) games contain
Hello, everyone. I'm just getting started in my game design journey. I thought I had a list like this somewhere, but maybe I accidently threw it away. Not all games will have these elements, but most of the good ones will. It's not gospel; just something to think about. Here's the list, in no particular order:
- Art
- Sound Effects
- Code
- Animations
- Copywriting/Creative Writing
- Platform/Medium/Packaging/Codebase
- Design
- Music
- Challenge/Failure States
- A Goal
- (Bonus) Characters: Player/NPCs/Villain/AI Protagonist
These are just the ones that I could think about right now. You could say that Art and Design are the same, but they're really not. The same with Music and Sound Effects.
