Ten ways to make college easier for me at 38
It's official! I'm back in college. I have the aptitude. I have the funds. I still have the wherewithal to succeed. But it isn't going to be easy. Here are my strategies for making college a beneficial experience, instead of a slog that almost kills me, like last time:
- Don't try to make it go too quickly. Savor every moment.
- Take the minimum amount of credits each quarter (2 years on track).
- Transfer to a 4-year university early.
- Test out of classes that are easy.
- Get lots of rest. Lots.
- Study everything before you start class.
- Practice reading, writing and speaking.
- Watch Youtube videos and read books on going back to school.
- Remember that self-education will make you a fortune. Standard education a living.
- Make it so hard that you'll never forget it.
- (bonus) Apply for a buttload of scholarships.
- (bonus) Remember your sphere of influence (Covey).
