Ten things to remember when going back to college at 38.

I am slated to attend college starting in the summer of 2023. Here are some things that I would like to remember when going back for the first time in 15 years.

  • They can take it all away at any moment. Don't be too attached.
  • You only need to be right once.
  • You have no kids and no obligations, so you have the rest of your life to get your degree.
  • You'll feel better once you get into the swing of things.
  • You will always have your previous associate degree.
  • You can test out of some courses, and you already have.
  • A piece of paper doesn't determine your future. You do.
  • Many of the wealthiest people in the world dropped out.
  • You actually have food this time, and shelter, and heat, and safety, and money.
  • The best thing that could happen to you is that you drop out and go back to business.
  • (bonus) Failure is only the first step.
  • (bonus) If you fail this time, you can go back on a scholarship.
