Ten Strengths and Weaknesses of my first professional game
Hello. I've just finished my first game for my new company, and I thought that I'd go through some of the strengths and weaknesses of Carrier Artang and see if I can find some areas where I can improve for next time. Strengths first:
- I finished exactly on time; neither early nor late.
- I added all of the features that were absolutely necessary.
- The game worked.
- The game got good reviews.
- Everything about the game was made by me.
- I promoted the game well.
- I'm ahead of most other game creators, in that I finished it and it worked.
- I have something that I can use as a showpiece.
- I have many more skills that I can use in the future.
- I got my Unity game dev course.
And, as promised, here are ten weaknesses to Carrier Artang:
- The game was boring and uncool.
- The game did have at least one bug.
- The game was on a defunct platform.
- There were no real animations.
- There was a lot of spaghetti code.
- I had a Trace statement locked in there that I didn't remove.
- I didn't get First Page.
- I didn't get any written reviews and my score was less than a 2.50 out of 5.
- The graphics were flat and uninteresting.
- I was lacking a lot of basic AS3 skills when I started.
